The city and district of Jambusar has been well known as an historical and mythological region. Great sages like Maharishi Yajnavalkya and Bhagvan Kapila Muni, scholars like Yaskacharya and Bhudev Shukla, Revered Sagar Maharaj, Revered Premal Maharaj, and Revered Bhavdas Maharaj, the founder of the Bhava Sampradaya have blessed this region by their births and eminent contribution. This vibrant region has also provided active participation in The India’s Freedom Movement (1857-1947). For devout souls, this region is a holy place for the pilgrimage to the Seats (Baithak) of the most Venerable Shrimad Vallabhacharya and Shri Harirayji. The Stambheshvar Tirtha (Kamboi) of this area is glorified as the “Somnath of South Gujarat”, with many valient volunteers and reputed of the India’s Freedom movement, social workers and reputed legal luminaries, this region is highly respected. Due to some Geographical limitations and repeated financial crisis, this region, belonging to the end of the district of Bharuch, is striving very hard to recover its past glory.
Inspired by the maxims : “Knowledge is the third eye of a person” and “Education makes a person complete and perfect” the active social workers of the Jambusar District as well as the leaders of this area met in Mumbai in : 1963 and founded the society “Janata Kelvani Mandal (Society Centre for the Education of people). In the same year the Jivanlal M. Shah Arts and Commerce College was established, which was inaugurated by the Late Shri Morarjibhai Desai, former Prime-Minister of India. Students from the neighbouring regions like Jambusar, Amod, Vagara and Padra came to this college for their education and betterment of life. Thus the Janata Kelvani Mandal enkindled under one umbrella the lamp of Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary, Graduate & Post graduate education in this area, which provided the basis for the further development. The “Janata Kelvani Mandal, Jambusar” is an active institution quoted to the noble ideal of character building through education in the backward areas of the region around Jambusar, for the past forty years
